No it's not unless you ask them for a large and an unrealistic amount. Remember, small donations from a large number of audience is your target.
Don't you fret. If not family, ask your friends for the bare minimum you require from each one of them to initiate donations on your fundraiser; to build the momentum, at least.
If your friends cannot donate too, ask them to share your fundraIsing page with their friends and family. The possibility of receiving funds from a complete pool of strangers are very low than receiving funds from your friends' friends/family members.
Keep asking them to keep sharing your fundraising page.
An automated mail and an SMS from Ketto notifies you each time a donation is made to your Ketto fundraiser. You can also download the complete donor list by logging into your Ketto account.
As a crowdfunding platform, we help you raise maximum funds for your cause using the best of technology, support and database.

Ketto, is a platform that empowers anyone to give to or start social fundraisers in India. One of our differentiating points is to convert donors into fundraisers for various nonprofits that have the highest impact, transparency, and passion to serve the community.
To raise funds on Ketto, all NGOs have to go through a due diligence process and submit essential information and documents We take around 1-2 days from receipt of information to carefully screen all NGOs and contact you for more information or clarifications (if required).
After an NGO is approved, Ketto sends a fundraiser contract with terms and conditions. After the contract is executed, the approved NGOs can create fundraisers and can have its supporters create fundraisers on their behalf and start raising funds.
No, to raise funds on Ketto, you need not already have 80G tax exemption certificate. Bear in mind that your supporters will be informed of the same.
No, you don't need FCRA permission to raise funds from Indian donors on Ketto. However, Ketto will not allow you to raise funds from non-Indian / foreign donors if you don't have this permission to accept foreign contributions.
The 80G tax exemption certificate will be issued to Indian donors by you. We will share all the donor details with you.
In the event that an NGO does not have the FCRA certification, Ketto has the ability to disable foreign contributions, based on nationality. Simply put if you don't have an FCRA, Ketto will ensure your NGO does not receive foreign funds.
Ketto is a tech company, founded in 2012 by Varun Sheth, Zaheer Adenwala and Kunal Kapoor, and is engaged in the business of crowd-funding, an age-old practice of raising small sums of money from large numbers of people to achieve a common goal. Ketto has given this offline practice an online avatar by using technology and processes to make the activity more transparent and cost-effective.
Ketto has grown from strength to strength over the last 3 years and is currently partnered with close to 4000 NGO's and has assisted them in raising over Rs. 6 cr. between 2013-2015.
Simply, Ketto has revolutionized the way fundraising is done. Ketto is constantly converting donors into fundraisers for 1000+ already registered non-profits in India. We are fun and engaging platform of raising money online, as opposed to raising money via grants. Our social media and email promotion tools can help you market and create social awareness about your programs to a relevant audience allowing you to spend more time on creating social impact rather than spend time on raising funds . The current cost of fundraising via traditional channels is high(20-40% of funds fundraised). We can help reduce your funding cost to less than 10% levels. Also get rid of the hassle of creating a website (which must be mobile friendly in today's world), hiring website programmers, designers, and social media experts, setting up a payment gateway, etc.
Because…
On the Ketto website, click on the “Start a Fundraiser Page in the header and login. Fill in the fundraiser details and click on start. You can customize your fundraiser by adding compelling images and videos and other details to help it stand out. Now submit the fundraiser. So once your fundraiser is live, the real work begins! Spread the word by sharing with family and friends on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and email.
Now the trick is to convert supporters to donors and collect contributions! We help you spread the word too. And hopefully your fundraiser will reach its goal amount in no time.
Ketto strongly believes in empowering the NGOs to convert their donors into fundraisers. Every NGO should strongly communicate with their donor base to start fundraisers on their behalf as opposed to simply donating to the NGO. We have created special micro-sites for the non-profits which literally acts as their website eg. Ngo-name.ketto.org. All the aggregated activities of the ngo can be viewed in this one place and the page is designed to get as many fundraisers started as possible. If 10 donors start 10 fundraisers, they each attract 10 donors to their page, hence creating a 10x impact in the donor base as well as the money raised.
You can surely do so, however from past experience we've seen NGOs fail due to the two-pronged communication to its supporters. The marketing over-head doubles, and supporters are confused and many a time end up not taking any action. We strongly recommend choosing only 1 platform at a time.
There is no time limit as such, but generally fundraisers should be between 30-60 days as fundraisers that are longer take very long to get going. People are happy to contribute towards fundraisers that are looking to raise money for immediate needs rather than very long term projects.
As soon as a donor makes a donation to your organisation, you are immediately notified about the transaction via email with all the details regarding that particular transaction. Please note that you have an updated email address on the Ketto system so you dont miss these emails.
As soon as a supporter starts a fundraiser page for your organisation, you are immediately notified about the same via email with all the details regarding that particular fundraiser. Please note that you have an updated email address on the Ketto system so you dont miss these emails.
No. But we recommend you to set realistic targets. Please contact us and we can provide you with further guidance.
You get to keep it all. Similarly, if you do not meet the target, there is no fine or penalty.
Rewards are items offered by you to incentivize supporters and in a way to thank them for the contribution they made towards your fundraiser. It could be a special thank you note, coffee mug, a badge, public thanks or mention on Facebook and other social media channels or any other thing you may think of.
The fundraiser creator is solely responsible for fulfilling reward claims. We only provide you with the details of the claimants like their name, shipping address etc.
Yes, we are happy to help:
Ketto practices a 'flexible' model of funding, which means you get whatever you raise. So even if you don't raise your goal amount, we're still happy to transfer the raised funds to you.
Ketto provides complete account management services and deploys dedicated account managers to each partner. The account managers are completely abreast with the dynamics of the industry and are able to provide best tips and practices, for each fundraiser. You can also see our fund raising tips here.
As a crowdfunding platform with technological features, our primary goal is to enable YOU to reach out to your friends, family members, acquaintances and even strangers. We don't promote all fundraisers links - Team Ketto has set up an algorithm that considers certain factors in determining which fundraisers are to be promoted. These factors are as follows:
Amount of funds raised
Number of supporters
Social media impressions
Measurement of the activity on the page
Note: These factors come into play only one week after the fundraiser page is LIVE on Ketto. Please get in touch with your fundraiser manager for further details.
Ketto believes in merit, based on a complex algorithm of number of visitors, number of supporters, social media shares and funds raised. Based on these, the successful fundraisers will appear on the 'Trending Now' page by default.
Content is king. We strongly believe that well written content can single-handedly determine the success of the fundraiser. Not to imply that other factors aren't important, but content is certainly critical. Ketto has an in-house creative team that personally overlooks each fundraiser and share their feedback with the campaigners.
We live in the digital-era, so to neglect the impact of social media would be foolhardy. Social media has the ability to create mass awareness and reach, notwithstanding geographic boundaries and cultures. Using social media efficiently should always be your primary source of out reach. Which is why Ketto allows you to share all your fundraiser information on social platforms through well integrated and dynamic tools.
Yes, we use technology to our advantage. With the use of dynamic tools and a seamless interface, you are free to share all your activities on Ketto on your social media platforms.
Absolutely. Being a tech company at heart, we strongly believe in D-I-Y. The practice of 'Do It Yourself' is the way of the future and Ketto has ensured that using the platform yourself is an absolutely easy experience. By following a few basic steps, you can start fundraisers on demand, without the support of the team at Ketto. That said, if you do ever face a challenge, please bring it to Ketto's attention – we take feedback very seriously.
With the exception of the goal amount and fundraiser end date, you, as the campaigner, have the power to edit all the content on your page. We encourage campaigners to update the page regularly, give updates, share interesting facts and keep the supporters engaged.
No, at this point in time, this feature is only available to the team at Ketto. So if you ever want something changed, get in touch with the team and the change will be made within 24 hours.
Ketto supports the partners to any degree and in order to do so, dedicates a full time account manager to each NGO, who will be the single point of contact from Ketto for all queries or concerns.
Once you log-in, you will find an option saying 'Extract Donor Information'. We urge you to do this exercise at the end of every day and reach out to the new supporters and thank them for their contribution. Gratification goes a long way and increases the chances of them supporting you again drastically.
